In a millennium of moon - fades
shining on his memory path,
Lazarus sees the mighty empire dropping it's swords:
Anointing more lawyers than healers:
sees the soldiers, builders and bakers
demanding free bread and circuses:
Hears orders from The Holy See,
celebrating the end of the first millennium,
to free the Holy Lands:
Predicting most certain return
of "The Master of Compassion"
to the place of His conception:
Lazarus' sad laughter cascades
over crusading Christian knights
marching, raping and plundering
across their Christian lands:
Arriving in their holy land
with bloody slashing swords:
Destroying peoples pronounced unworthy:
Destroying mosques and sacred temples:
Turning their ancient stones into ruling fortress castles:
