Born 1818 in Smythe County, Virginia.
Died December 8, 1893 in Russell County, Virginia.
On January 5, 1842 Phillip married Nancy Meade.
Nancy was born in 1819 in Russell County, Virginia.
Nancy died on February 19, 1886 in Russell County, Virginia of Consumption.
Phillip and Nancy had 13 children as follows:
  1. David Minton:
    Born about 1841 in Russell County, Virginia.
    On March 14, 1866 David married Elizabeth Vaughn.
  2. Richard J. Minton:
    Born April 1843 in Russell County, Virginia.
  3. Mary "Polly" Minton:
    Born about 1844.
    Died February 19, 1925 and is buried in Worrick Cemetery in Lincoln County, West Virginia.
    On February 20, 1864 Mary married her 1st husband, John Baker in Russell County, Virginia.
    On April 2, 1893 Mary married her 2nd husband, Harvey Robinette.
  4. Samuel J. Minton:
    Born March 14, 1845 in Russell County, Virginia.
    Died April 4, 1920 in Nicholas County, Kentucky, Locust Grove.
    On June 22, 1867 Samuel married Elizabeth J. Peters.
    Elizabeth was born in 1852 in Scott County, Virginia.
    Samuel and Elizabeth had at least one son Henry Phillip Minton.
  5. Elizabeth Minton:
    Born about 1846 in Russell County, Virginia.
    Died September 18, 1927 in Locust Grove, Nicholas County, Kentucky.
    On April 29, 1865 Elizabeth married William Henry Stone in Russell County, Virginia.
  6. Lavina (Vina) Minton:
    Born in 1849 in Russell County, Virginia.
    Lavina had 4 children by John Baker, her brother-in-law, but she was never married to him.
    On April 22, 1878 Lavina married John Lewis.
    On April 10, 1889 Lavina married Firman Peregeon or Peregeon Firman.
  7. James M. Minton:
    Born about 1850 in Russell County, Virginia.
    Died October 25, 1917 in Locus Grove, Nicholas County, Kentucky.
    In 1875 James married Margaret Johnson Minton in Russell County, Virginia.>
  8. Martha Minton:
    Born November 11, 1852 in Russell County, Virginia.
    Died February 24, 1945 Montague County, Texas.
    On January 29, 1874 Martha married Harmon Clay, son of Emma Clay in Russell County, Virginia.
  9. Sarah "Sallie" Minton:
    Born about 1854 in Russell County, Virgina.
    Died September 13, 1896 died of dropsy.
  10. Tivis M. Minton:
    Born September 8, 1856 in Russell County, Virginia.
    Died July 9, 1915 in Locust Grove, Nicholas County, Kentucky.
    On August 14, 1882 Tivis married Mary Ellen Meade, daughter of Nathan Meade & Mary Meade.
  11. Nancy Minton:
    Born about 1858 in Russell County, Virginia.
    On June 6, 1881 Nancy married William McGlothlin in Russell County, Virginia.
  12. Highley Minton:
    Born September 29, 1859.
    On November 8, 1884 Highley married Jacob R. Johnson, son of Jacob and Nancy Vicars-Johnson.
    (Jacob is the son of James Joseph Johnson and Mary Staley-Johnson).
  13. Virginia Minton:
    Born October 15, 1861 in Russell County, Virginia.
    Died about 1927 in Lone Mountain, Tennessee and buried in Janeway Graveyard.
    On October 4, 1879 Virginia married Joseph P. Johnson in Russell County, Virginia.
    Joseph was the son of Jacob and Nancy Vicars-Johnson.
    (Jacob is the son of James Joseph Johnson and Mary Staley-Johnson.)
