Joseph Lafayette "Faith" Hamilton:
Born January 16, 1861 in Scott County, Virginia.
Died August 29, 1942.
On September 30, 1882 Joseph married his first wife, Elizabeth Beatrice Kennedy, in Wise County, Viginia.
Elizabeth was the daughter of Ichaboad O. Kennedy and Martha Holbrook-Kennedy.
Martha Holbrook-Kennedy was the daughter of James Holbrook and Frances Jordan-Holbrook.
Elizabeth was born April 19, 1866.
Elizabeth died on January 25, 1905.
Both Joseph and Elizabeth are buried Caney Ridge in Dickenson County, Virginia.
Joseph and Elizabeh had 11 children as follows:

  1. James Rufus Hamilton:
    Born February 26, 1882 in Dickenson County, Virginia.
    Died June 7, 1957.
    On February 6, 1906 James married Rachel Louise Adkins.
    Rachel was born August 26, 1886.
    Rachel died November 19, 1975.
    James and Rachel are both buried at Hamilton Cemetery, Caney Ridge in Dickenson County, Virginia.
  2. William Arthur Hamilton:
    Born January 1885.
    Died November 1, 1887 (Age 2 years 1 month - diptheria.)
  3. Walker Ichabod Hamilton:
    Born 15, May 1891.
    Died 22 March 1961.
    Walker married Sallie H. Pannell.
    Sallie was born August 14, 1887.
    Sallie died April 22, 1962.
    Walter and Sallie are both buried at Hamilton Cemetery, Caney Ridge in Dickenson County, Virginia.
  4. John Milton Hamilton:
    Born March 15, 1893 Dickenson County, Virginia.
    Died June 5, 1972.
    On July 17, 1915 John married Virginia E. Mays, daughter of James Mays and Josephine Lucas Wright-Mays.
    Virginia was born in 1893 and died in 1987. John is buried at Caney Ridge.
  5. Lonie "Lona" Hamilton:

    Died August 3, 1959.
    On December 24, 1914 Lonie married James Ervine Bray in Wise County, Virginia.

  6. Jennie Belle Hamilton:

    Died April 20, 1899 (Age 2).

  7. Emmett E. Hamilton:

    Died October 7, 1965.
    Silas married Opal Freeman.
    Opal was born February 27, 1912.
    Opal died Januryar 1991 at age 78 of lung cancer.
    Silas and Opal are both buried in Edwards Cemetery at Sandy Ridge, Virginia.
  3. Nettie Hamilton:
    Born February 16, 1913 in Dickenson County, Virginia.
    Nettie married Kermit Buchanan.
  4. Vergie Hamilton:
    Born November 27, 1915 Dickenson County, Virginia.
    Vergie married Albert Ashbury.
  5. Cecil McKinley Hamilton:
    Born July 28, 1917 in Dickenson County, Virginia.
    Died January 14, 1990.
    On February 24, 1940 Cecil married Lillie Jeanette Sanders in Wise County, Virginia.
  6. Viva Hamilton:

    Viva married Dempsey Deel.
  7. Henry Hamilton:
