The data given here is from the Revolutionery War pension claim filed by James Hamilton. The claim (File 54320) is on file in the National Archives in Washington, D.C. He filed a claim for a pension in Lee County, Virginia on February 18, 1833, and he also filed in the court of McMinn County, Tennessee on May 23, 1835.

James was born on June 11, 1771 in Ireland.
James died in December of 1857 in Scott County, VA and he is buried in the Old Daugherty Cemetery.
