John Adkins (Atkins)
Lunenburg County, Virginia
Signed April 10, 1762 and Probated March 10, 1763

IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN: the tenth day of April, 1762, I John Adkins of Lunenburg County and Parrish of Cornwell - being sick and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God, therefore calling to mind the Mortality of my and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and orda in this my Last Will and Testament

that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my Soul into the hands of God that gave it and for my body I recommend it to the earth to be buried in a Christian like manner.

Impress: it is my Will an I do order that in the first place all my just debts and funeral charges be paid and satisfied.

Item - I do order and appoint Mary my dearly beloved wife shall have the place whereon I now live during her natural life and the third part of all my stock cattle, horses and hogs and also my household goods forever.

Item - I give to my beloved son Francis Adkins whom I likewise constitute with James Taylor be my Executors of this my last Will and Tstament and one Hundred fifty acres of land whereon he now lives joining Alexander Mackee and Samuel Johnston and others to him his Heirs and Assigns forever.

Item - I give and bequeath unto my son Edward Adkins one hundred acres of land whereon I now live after his Mother's Decease bought of David Gwinn joining Willson Maddux and Ashworth Middleton to him his Heirs and Assigns forever.

Item - I give and bequeath to my two daughters namely, Agness & Rachel Adkins two thirds of all my stock and household goods to be equally divided between them to them and their Heirs Assigns forever.

Item - I give to my son William Adkins one shilling sterling.

Item - I give to my son John Adkins one shilling sterling.

Item - I give to my daughter Mary Creighton one shilling sterling.

Item - I give to my son Benjamin Adkins one shilling sterling.

And I do hereby utterly Disallow revoke all other former Testaments Wills Legacees and Executors by me before this time named Willed and Bequesthed Confirmin this and no other to b my last Will & Testament.

In Witness thereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year above written.
